Now that January has officially arrived, our work toward becoming a Green Flag School is now in full-speed. Today we worked on creating a template spreadsheet for our Recycling Program. Here's what our goals are going to look like in the upcoming months - starting in February.

Phase One was rolling out the program and reintroducing our school to how and why recycling is so important. Phase Two is student involvement - where students will take the initiative and ownership of the program with the following tasks:

  • Starting February 4, 2019, students in Grades Kindergarten through 8th will bring both Recycling Bins from their Homerooms (Paper and Plastic) and empty them into the Larger Blue Bins located on each of  the first and second floors at the end of each day. Each bin is clearly labeled with one for Plastic and one for Paper.

  • Starting February 4, 2019, specific Students in grades 7th - 8th will then use Spring Scales to weigh the bags and record the data on a sheet that will be provided. (Schedule Pending)

  • Starting February 4, 2019, students in the 5th Grade will then enter the data into Google Sheets, where they will generate charts for data analysis. Which will then be shared with the school in weekly reports.

This is the Template that we created thus far. Once we start to get data into our chart, we will introduce formulas to help us with our data analysis. YAY COMPUTER SCIENCE LINGO!
